Purwoceng is a plant origin from
Indonesia. This plant is one of native
herbal for aphrosidiac purpose. Purwoceng have grew endemically at Dieng
plateau, Wonosobo, Central Java. First time, this plant found wild grow in
Dieng plateau (Central Java), environs Pangrango mountain (West-Java) and a few
mountain area in East Java at elevaled place about 1800-3000 masl. Several name
of this plant as known as in the deep area are antanan, purwoceng, purwoaceng, suripandak
abang, and gebangan. The Latin name is Pimpinella pruatjan Molk. The genus like a celery.
Purwoceng is contain aphrosidiac, this is a chemical compounds that can increase the man vitality, that is can raising spermatozoid fertility. Aphrosidiac is one of secondary metabolism on the tissue of plant from steroid group. Rostiana (2007) explain that the secondary metabolism of purwoceng are kumarin, flavonoid, alkaloid, and terpenoid-steroid. All part of purwoceng (root, stem, leaf) are usefull, but the prime is root. Commonly, people make a dried this plant or we have known as simplisia.

Purwoceng in Dieng used by farmer to keep and rise him health because they were
work hard in surrounding mountain so that don’t get catch a cold. That area are
very steep and cold weather so the farmer must have good health condition to
work. They consumption pour boiling water on this plant.
The other benefit purwoceng are
contains diuretic compounds which can launch of the bladder, the canopy of
purwoceng contain bergapten compounds, that is can increasing stamina of body,
and also containing vitamin E. Vitamin E have function as rejuvenation of body
cells and improve the fertility of women.
Nowdays, some traditional
medicine company in Indonesia benefitted purwoceng to make product to rising
man vitality, like Sido Muncul, Nyonya Meneer & other. As Dieng people told
that the manner to consumpted purwoceng is boil the simplisia and drink this
